The Manitoba Transit Heritage Association cares for and maintains the personal collection of the late transit historian and founding MTHA member John E. Baker. The collection of photographs, slides, books, magazines, papers, research, drawings, original documents represents a life's work studying and preserving the history of transit in Winnipeg.

The John E. Baker Collection

The Manitoba Transit Heritage Association maintains a collection of photographs, slides and postcards donated by the late William A. Luke, journalist and bus industry historian.  Bill was involved in the bus industry for his entire life, beginning his career in 1948 with Jefferson Bus Lines in Minneapolis and later managing the operations of Empire Bus Lines in Spokane. Bill, predeceased by his wife Adelene, together established Bus Ride magazine in 1965, which has become one of the prominent trade journals of the bus industry. Bill and Adelene travelled extensively across the United States, Canada and 70 countries around the world exploring and documenting bus transportation systems.  Bill donated many of his fine photographs from his many visits to Winnipeg to the MTHA collection.

The William A. Luke Collection

Together with one of our fully restored authentic vintage fleet buses, Manitoba Transit Heritage Association volunteers can now bring this mobile museum to your organization for a small donation.
