MANITOBA TRANSIT HERITAGE ASSOCIATION

1950 Canadian Car / Brill model T48

Electric trolley coach #1768 was purchased by the Winnipeg Electric Company in 1950 as part of its rails to rubber conversion program.

The unit operated on city bus routes until October 30, 1970 when it served as the last in-service trolley coach.

The bus was stored in 1970 by Metro Transit and was donated to the MTHA which is currently restoring the coach.

Historical Note: The Canadian Car and Foundry (CC&F) also known as "Can Car," manufactured bus, railroad rolling stock and later aircraft for the Canadian market. CC&F history goes back to 1897, but the main company was established in 1909 from an amalgamation of several companies and later became part of Hawker Siddeley Canada, then Bombardier Transportation and currently Alstom SA.
